That's why we're delighted to introduce a special treat awaiting you in your room during the 2025 season: the exquisite "Minuto d'Autore" croccantino from Antonio Autore.

A Sweet Taste of Local Heritage

Each "Minuto d'Autore" croccantino represents the perfect moment to savor a piece of authentic Campanian tradition. This artisanal chocolate confection comes from San Marco dei Cavoti, a small town in the Benevento area known for its historical production of chocolate croccantino. The name itself invites you to take "a minute of the author's time" to appreciate the story and tradition captured in each bite.

The Artisan Behind the Treat

Antonio Autore's journey is one of modern emigration and homecoming. After earning his economics degree and spending over 12 years working for a multinational company in Amsterdam, Antonio felt the irresistible call to return to his Italian roots. He brought his international experience back to his hometown, applying innovative entrepreneurial approach to the traditional local art of chocolate-making.

A Recipe Steeped in History

The croccantino has a fascinating lineage that traces back to ancient Rome. It evolved from "cupedia," a sweet made with nuts and honey, which later became the famous torrone (still called "cupeta" in Campania). The croccantino represents the pinnacle of this evolutionary journey.

This gourmet delicacy is crafted using the finest local ingredients:

Campanian hazelnuts (famous from Avellino, whose name derives from the Latin name for hazelnut, Corylus avellana)
Pugliese almonds
Caramel
70% blend cacao
Our Commitment to Quality

At Hotel Margherita, we embrace the philosophy of "Buono, Pulito e Giusto" (Good, Clean and Fair). Selecting Antonio Autore's croccantino reflects our dedication to offering you authentic, high-quality products that represent the best of our region.

When you unwrap this special treat in your room, you're not just enjoying a sweet indulgence – you're experiencing a piece of Campanian history and tradition, a delicious connection to the vibrant cultural landscape surrounding the Amalfi Coast.

Should you wish to take this experience further, Antonio Autore's workshop is open for visits by appointment, where you can tour the laboratory, enjoy tastings of the various artisanal chocolate products, and purchase them to take home or have shipped worldwide.
