Margherita's Cocktail Bar in Praiano: a Sunset Worth Sipping on the Amalfi Coast

Margherita's Cocktail Bar Amalfi Coast Sea View

At Margherita's Cocktail bar you can enjoy classic and signature cocktails, a curated selection of artisanal and international spirits, sunset aperitivo and after-dinner drinks with views over the Amalfi Coast.

The sky above the sea. A glass in your hand.

There is a place on the Amalfi Coast where time genuinely slows down. Where the blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea blends into the sky, lemon trees perfume the air, and a well-made cocktail becomes part of the landscape. Welcome to Margherita's Cocktail Bar — the rooftop terrace of Hotel Margherita in Praiano, one of the most authentic and quietly spectacular spots on the entire coast.

Open throughout the day and into the late evening, the bar welcomes both hotel guests and outside visitors who are looking for more than just a drink: an experience, a view, a genuine pause at one of the most breathtaking stretches of the Italian coastline.

A Terrace Above the Amalfi Coast

Praiano is the village that discerning travellers choose precisely to escape the crowds of Positano or Amalfi. Quieter, more intimate, yet just as visually stunning — it offers sea views that stop you in your tracks without the summer crush of its more famous neighbours.

The Hotel Margherita Cocktail Bar looks out over this landscape from a truly privileged position: a rooftop terrace perched above the sea, with an open view across the Tyrrhenian and the rocky silhouettes of the coast. A panorama that transforms over the course of the day — golden and shimmering in the afternoon, blazing at sunset, scattered with lights after dark.

This terrace is the ideal setting for a sunset aperitivo in Praiano, for a relaxed after-dinner moment under the stars, or simply for a break mid-day away from the heat and the bustle of the coastal road.

Morning to Midnight: Open All Day

One of the things that sets Margherita's Cocktail Bar apart from other spots on the coast is its continuity of service. The bar is open all day without interruption — from mid-morning through to late evening, the terrace is always there for anyone who wants to enjoy the view, a drink, or simply the sea breeze.

An aperitivo at golden hour with a Negroni or a Spritz. A fresh alcohol-free cocktail in the afternoon. A premium digestivo chosen from one of the most thoughtfully assembled spirits selections on the coast. Every hour of the day finds its own rhythm and its own ideal glass.

The Cocktails: From the Timeless to the Unexpected

The Margherita's Cocktail Bar menu is built to satisfy those who want a perfectly executed classic and those who are ready for something more personal.

Signature Cocktails — €15

The three signature cocktails at Margherita's Cocktail Bar didn't come from a marketing brief — they came from a genuine passion, turned professional. Luigi, a long-standing member of the Hotel Margherita team who had been working front-of-house for years, had always cultivated a deep interest in mixology alongside his day-to-day role. In early 2026, he completed a professional training course at the Accademia Mixology in Rome, and the 2026 signature menu is the direct result of that journey: three cocktails that speak for the coast and the character of the bar with both precision and personality.

MEXITO A long drink born from the fusion of two worlds: Mexico, with the confident backbone of Espolón reposado tequila, and Mojito, with the freshness of lime and mint. The result sits somewhere between a Moscow Mule and a classic Mojito, but with a bolder, spicier character thanks to the ginger beer. Fresh, aromatic and thirst-quenching — ideal for the warmer hours of the afternoon on the terrace.

NIGHT SHIFT The most contemplative cocktail on the menu, built for the later hours. The core idea is to strip the sweetness from red vermouth through a rapid coffee infusion technique, transforming it from a round, enveloping ingredient into something drier and more complex. Kahlúa deepens the bitter notes, Tanqueray gin provides structure, and orange bitters close with a dry citrus finish. A meditation drink, conceived for the darker hours of the evening — as its name suggests.

MEDITERRANEAN BREEZE The most territorial of the three. Gin Mare — a gin born on the Mediterranean itself, with botanicals of olive, basil, thyme and rosemary — is paired with a tonic infused with olives and lemon. The result is fresh, faintly saline and quietly elegant: every ingredient reaches back to the aromas of this sea and this coastline. It would be hard to find a cocktail that tells the story of the Amalfi Coast more honestly than this one.

Classic Cocktails — €13

A solid, well-curated classic list: Negroni with Carpano Antica, French 75 with prosecco, Last Word with Green Chartreuse and Luxardo Maraschino, Paloma, Tommy's Margarita, Moscow Mule, Espresso Martini, Manhattan with Bulleit 95 Rye, Old Fashioned with Bulleit bourbon, Old Cuban with Havana Especial and prosecco, Daiquiri, and the ever-reliable Martini — gin or vodka, dry or dirty.

Alcohol-Free Cocktails — €10

The non-alcoholic selection is far from an afterthought: Virgin Mojito, Summer Dream with Martini Vibrante and tonic, Sunrise with lemon, orange and carrot juices and grenadine, and the tropical Tropical Fizz with pineapple, orange and lime.

Spritz Selection: the Coast's Aperitivo — €13

No sunset on the Amalfi Coast is quite complete without a Spritz. The bar offers seven variations to cover every preference: Aperol, Campari, Limoncello, the house signature M'Ama! Spritz with Biancosarti and grapefruit soda, Hugo Spritz with St. Germain and mint, Cynar and Amaro del Capo. An entire geography of Italian taste, in sparkling form.

Spirits: A Selection for the Genuinely Curious

Margherita's Cocktail Bar is not just about cocktails. For spirits enthusiasts, the selection is broad, considered, and genuinely capable of surprising.

Gin — from around the world, with a nod to Italy

With over 20 labels from across the world (6 cl. pours), the gin selection is one of the most extensive in the area. English classics like Tanqueray, Bombay Sapphire and Hendrick's sit alongside Mediterranean expressions like Gin Mare and Gin Mare Capri, Italian gems like Giniu from Sardinia (the premium pick at €12) and Xamorfós. Further afield: Drumshanbo Gunpowder from Ireland, Elephant from Germany, Harahorn from Norway and the intriguing Tokiro Niigata from Japan.

Rum — a journey across the tropics and beyond

The rum selection (5 cl.) spans continents: Cuban staples like Havana Club and Ron Mulata, the prestigious Zacapa 23Y from Guatemala and Mount Gay XO from Barbados, the remarkable By The Dutch Batavia Arrack from Indonesia and the rare Yaku Wari from Ecuador.

Whisky — Scotch, Bourbon, Rye and surprises

A thorough selection (5 cl.) covering all the major categories: blended and single malt Scotch with standouts like Bruichladdich Port Charlotte and Oban 14Y, American bourbon including Woodford Reserve and Bulleit, Irish whiskey with Bushmills 16Y, and — a genuine curiosity — the Jiu Hai Bu Gan 12Y Tibet Single Malt from China.

Cognac and Brandy

From Hennessy V.S. to Rémy Martin XO (€21), by way of the sought-after Frapin Cigar Blend XO — this section is for those who prefer to close the evening in the grandest style.

Tequila and Mezcal

Seven expressions spanning blanco to reposado, with Don Julio Reposado and the artisanal mezcal Perro San Juan as the premium choices.

Beer: from Italian Classics to Local Craft

The beer list bridges the familiar and the local: alongside the beloved Baladin labels (Pop American Pale Ale and Birra Nazionale, including a gluten-free version), the bar pours the three craft beers from Melphi's di Amalfi — La Bianca brewed with Amalfi PGI lemon peel, La Bionda with noble German hops, and the bottle-conditioned La Rossa with coffee notes from honey malts. All at €10.

The Coastal Bar You Didn't Expect to Find

In an area where food and drink offerings are plentiful but often shaped entirely around mass tourism, Margherita's Cocktail Bar stands out for the quality of its selection, the care put into every pour, and above all for an atmosphere that manages to be elegant without being stiff — relaxed without feeling careless.

It is a rooftop bar with a sea view that earns the description: not just for the aperitivo hour, but across the full arc of the day, for guests and visitors alike, for those who want a perfectly mixed cocktail and for those who simply want to sit above the sea with something extraordinary in their glass.

Margherita's Cocktail Bar is open to outside guests as well as hotel residents, every day from 12:30 to 22:30. It is located on the rooftop terrace of Hotel Margherita, in Praiano — Amalfi Coast, Italy.

The right place on the right coast. With the right drink in hand.
